What Chat GTP thinks Steve Ledsworth would look like if he was in a Pixar movie. Portrait of Steve Ledsworth

About Steve

Hey! I’m Steve Ledsworth, a software developer living in the Metro Detroit area. I’m particularly interested in developing user interfaces and have spent my career thus far doing just that as a front-end web developer.

I’m a fan of nice things—which isn’t all that unique, I imagine, but the experience of using a well designed product makes me feel heard and understood—similar how well thought prose can make you feel closer to the author. The designer is clearly human and has empathy for those that will interact with their product. I hope to bring that same touch to software and one of the reasons I enjoy front-end web development so much—with a computer and a bit of time I can create something that has the potential to surprise and delight billions, how cool is that? It’s intoxicating to watch someone ‘get’ a design you’ve created. I try to put the time and care into my work in the same way that all the creators, builders, and designers must have spent on the work I appreciate. What’s the point of anything less, you know?

I’m incredibly lucky to have found my wife Sam early in life. We just get along and things between us are easy—I’m grateful everyday. We had our daughter Zoe just over a year ago now and it’s been a rollercoaster. She’s a ton of fun, but noone does a good job of describing just how challenging it is to be an attentive, patient parent.

I’ve worked on making this site a thing for years. I never really knew what I wanted to do with it and the purpose. That still hasn’t really changed.😬

What has changed is my desire to challenge myself in areas I’d like to improve. I don’t think of myself as a writer, but it’s something I’m interested in and like to become better at. I have a lot of front-end knowledge that I’d like to be able to share. I’m also dealing with this sort of internal struggle of not feeling like I have anything useful to say or share, but if I want to share it why should I not? On the other hand, I don’t want to fall into the trap that creators can, which is feeling that they owe the world something. I don’t need extra stress.

All that to say, this is an experiment that might just end up being a glorified résumé, but my hopes are it’s something more.

The best ways to get in touch:

I tend to be terrible at social media and don’t spend all that much time on it—strange, I know. With that you can find me on all of the sites (except Twitter 💀), it just might be awhile before I respond:

For the more nerdy:

Finally, I have my résumé available if you are interested in that sort of thing.
